Spoke with my aunt in BC last night to plan my trip for the summer. Figured out the date, and I’ll be going to see a weekend-long Highland Game near Seattle… and possibly going to Seattle as well! Definitely going to explore Van, and hopefully some outdoorsy stuff closer to my family’s home. I am so excited!! Pretty much beyond words, though I feel tempted to use the word chuffed again. (Heard my grandad use it on the weekend and it just kills me lol.)
Tonight after volunteering, I’m going to call my aunt in California to see if the dates works for her as well (either before or after my time in BC) so that I can go see her and my cousins there and celebrate my 21st SoCal style ;). Also very thrilled about that. Hopefully fit in some shopping, but not too much. The valley my aunt lives on is absolutely gorgeous so plenty of photos will be taken.
But on the other hand, I’ve realised that my master’s degree will cost me a good 22 000$ if I’m frugal (I suppose a generic poli sci MA might cost less, but my ideal program is at least 12500$ tuition alone, not including extra fees and living expenses). Sooo I will be saving money madly starting right after I pay for my tickets for next summer. Well, going to start saving now actually, but this is the last time in my life (in the near future at least, until I have a career going) that I can spend money on anything other than necessities. The next couple months is also the time where I’ll be buying things like a new mattress that I’ll be able to take with me when I move out. Even though I actually should have been studying for exams the last little while today, I’m glad I did the number crunching so that I won’t be surprised in my last year of undergrad :p
